Fully assembled knuckles shown, without lug studs. The example hub is clear anodized for picture clarity.
This is a steel drop spindle / hub combination that uses larger Camaro bearings. The hub is a custom designed shallow profile hub, designed specifically for this application and cannot be substituted with other hubs.
These CNC machined steel spindles allow the front end of the early Pontiac Fiero to be lowered by a full two inches without sacrificing proper suspension geometry or ride quality. The 2" drops intended for kit car conversions, they may work on stock Fieros but it may require more careful attention to the choice of whees and tires for good wheel well clearance. These spindles should also work well with unmodified Fiero cars. We have not personally confirmed it, but are told that these spindles also fit the later model Avanti cars.
These spindles require no other hardware to install. No changes to the springs or shocks are required. Any fasteners not included are already on the car in the stock suspension. This kit includes wheel bearings, seals and studs, pre installed and prelubed if desired.
This kit requires a rotor, new calipers and new caliper mount brackets. The caliper mount brackets should be the kind that mounts to the outside face of the original Fiero Knuckle. A popular choice is to use the rear LaBaron rotors and the existing brackets designed to work with that rotor.
The hubs are made from 6061 aluminum. We offer these bolt patterns and more: 5 x 100mm, 5x4.5", 5 x 115mm and 5x4.75".
Shipping costs will be between $25 and $40 for the contiguous US, depending on destination.
Installation Instructions:
We have installation instructions, please click here. The pictures are from the steel knuckles but the same assembly concepts apply.
Rear Suspension:
Making modifications to the rear suspension has a much less adverse effect on handling. The reason for this is that it does not involve steering. With the drive axle going through the knuckle a "drop spindle" configuration would interfere with the strut. Changing the springs in this case is a more suitable alternative for the rear suspension.
