Scissor Door Hinge GT Style Kit  $1199

This kit mounts one pair of doors. This is our recommended "scissor" or "jackknife" conversion kit for most production cars. These kits allow the door to swing to the side a little bit as they normally would, and then swing up. This allows the use of the existing door latches and weatherstripping. This is a much easier kit to install than our 1B4 kit, but GT style still requires good welding skills.

This is our "scissor" or "jackknife" conversion kit for show cars.

Please all the notices below concerning this product! This is not a simple project. It requires cutting and welding skills on the level of sectioning, chopping and channeling, and mechanical skills nearly on the level of putting in an aftermarket convertible top on a car that was a hardtop. The door handle and latch mechanisms also need to be modified.

These pictures are that of a prototype arrangement, meant to show this hinge kit in a car, the shown passenger side work was done in one Saturday . These pictures do not show the final fit and adjustments.

This kit includes hardware to install hinges to two doors: a pair of Style 1B-4 hinges, weld-in adjustable mount plates, gas struts, strut ends, ball studs and weld-in ball stud mounts, as well as general installation instructions. Although this is a kit meant to simplify the process of putting on a set of custom hinges, it is still a project that requires skill, time and equipment to install, such as welding, cutting and repainting. If you have any questions, please ask before ordering. Also, please download the instructions below and have the installer read and understand them before ordering!

This is not a bolt-on kit and it is not intended for auto customization novices. It takes a serious level of skill, such as welding, cutting, grinding, paint preparation work and an ability to read, understand and follow the instructions. If you are inexperienced with any of these, we strongly suggest you hire a professional to install the kit. We suggest that the chosen installer read the instructions provided on this site before ordering the kit.

Please note that this kit contains some standard oversize mount plates that are intended to be cut, welded and modified by the installer to fit into a particular car. There is a 20% restocking fee on parts returned in resaleable condition. Parts that are modified, installed or damaged cannot be returned, we may choose to offer partial credit based on the condition and resalability of the returned parts.

The price is for a pair of hinges, also including steel mounting side plates and pivot pins. High polish on exposed areas: $30 extra. Shipping weight is approximately 7 pounds.

SDHH7 Heavy Duty Hood / Trunk Hinge  List Price: $439 / pair. Our Price: $375 / pair.

This is a new hinge designed to give class to trick hoods, trunks and gullwing doors. This part is machined from aluminum and given a satin finish. The price is for a single hinge, also including steel mounting plates, flanges and bolt hardware. Can be mixed and matched with SDHH5, depending on the weight of parts to be hinged, and the concentration of force. High polish on exposed areas: $30 extra.
